About

ski poles and aftermarket grips designed for backcountry and freeride pursuits...

made in brooklyn, ny

Founded in the Winter 2021, during the depths of the pandemic and out of the frustration with options and prices in the marketplace, Central Park Ski Club aims to offer best in class quality at an affordable price.

Like many consumers of products in the ski industry we were initially blown away by  some of the new styles coming out of the freeride and ski touring in the late 2010s. I was happy to pay the high price to get what was a differentiated product that I thought would help me get after it ski touring. Unfortunately, after a day of use I broke my pole (at no fault to the manufacturer... I hit a tree) and was left with one useless pole that I loved, as I'm sure many of you reading this can relate. I thought, "I have tons of old ski poles sitting in my garage, there has to be after-market grips out there that I can purchase and re-grip myself similar to re-gripping golf clubs". Turns out there wasn't.

I envisioned a world of skiers with garages filled with dusty unused ski poles that just needed a little remodeling. That's where the idea was born. With maybe a little bit of delusional self-confidence, I figured how hard would it be to make grips myself and offer up-cycled ski pole and after-market grips? Turns out it was a lot more work, but that's another story.

Where we stand today, Central Park Ski Club has shifted to offering manufactured after-market grips. We've learned a lot of lessons and are still refining the product, but our goal is to offer the highest quality product at an affordable price while listening and talking to customers to better understand what they demand to achieve their outdoor pursuits. At the end of the day, ski equipment should just work when you need it to and that is what we aim to deliver.
